About

Hi, I’m Terri. Welcome to Chocolate Cake Quilt Designs!

I’m an Iowa girl living in Texas (recently transplanted from Colorado) with my husband John. We are parents to two adult boys.

My interest in quilting sparked early in 1999, but didn’t seriously take off until several years later because I was too busy sewing truck pajamas,

and two Halloween costumes a year for two little boys.

For three years from 2010 to 2013, I escaped the testosterone in the house through part-time employment at a local quilt shop where I discovered that I really do have artistic ability, despite what my fifth-grade art teacher, Mrs. Chateauvert, said. Add quilt pattern designer to resume. So there, Glenda!

More recently, I have become a hoarder collector of vintage Aunt Grace fabric.

All you blog trollers out there should be warned that you may be in for more than you realize, as you have stumbled upon a quilter with ADD as well as OCD tendencies (thanks, Mom) which manifest themselves throughout the quilt-making process. This isn’t all bad, as quilting allows for the depletion of those tendencies, thereby keeping them at bay in the rest of my life (the men folk are thinking yeah, right) and off who-knows-how-much medication, saving me thousands of dollars annually, which I can spend on fabric. Thanks for joining me in my OCD quilting adventures.

Greetings from Gardendale, AL. I Just wanted you to know how much I love your version of the sound of music song -my favorite things. I used the original version as a theme for my wedding ( hence I wore a blue sash). And plan to frame and hang your version in my sewing room. Thanks! Happy Quilting! Cori

    • Thank you so much for your kind words, Cori. I had a lot of fun writing it. It’s an honor to know about your plans to hang it in your sewing room! Thanks for visiting my blog; hope you’ll return from time to time.
