Craftsmanship and a beam decision

Cabinet and trim work is progressing nicely at the house. We’ve gotten to know the craftsman who is working on the stairs and we are in awe of his skill.

We mentioned him to the project manager, who smiled, shook his head and said, “Yeah, he is really good—a little slower than I’d like, but I agree with you.”

In the living area off the kitchen, ceiling beams were installed, but not the style or wood choice we specified, so Friday morning between 7:00 and 8:00 was spent forwarding CYA emails, photos and comments to the project manager. (Thank goodness the office is close.)

This error does have a silver lining in that we’re now wondering if we even want beams in that space at all. What’s one more decision, right?
