Rustic keystone, cream and beaver brown

Before I update you on our impending move, I thought you’d like to know that Eric made it back from Afghanistan safe and sound and flew to Denver last Sunday for a two-week visit. Here are the three cousins, reunited once again.

We closed on our Houston house August 27, and that same week our Colorado house was photographed in preparation for placement on MLS. Getting ready for the photographer delivered a serious reality jolt: this is really happening. It hits you hard when you have to hide from view all your family photos and personal keepsakes that make a house a home.

Last week we packed a U-Haul trailer with a mattress, box spring, microwave and miscellaneous dishes and delivered them to the Houston house.

Doing this should save the company money in the long run, as John will no longer need to stay in a hotel when he has to be in Houston for work in the interim between selling our Colorado house and making the final move back to Houston.

We also took all John’s technical books that he uses for work and got them unpacked in the new office.

Eric was a good sport, helping to load and unload the trailer and picking up a couple of lengthy driving shifts both ways.

While there, we met with the builder’s rep who was anxious for us to begin making our selections for the exterior of the new house, three of which are named in the title of this post. We met her Friday morning at a company that represents brick manufacturers and picked brick,
